Pathanamthitta: Sadya will be served in Sabarimala from the new year. The sadya will be served which includes rice, dal, aviyal, thoran, pickle, sambar, rasam, papad and payasam. The Travancore Devaswom Board has issued an order in this regard.
The dishes will be purchased through tenders or through Horticorp and Civil Supplies. The responsibility of
the feast has been given to the Devaswom Commissioner. Rice and curries were provided till 2020. However, pulao was later served at the request of the southern states.
There will be at least seven dishes in the feast. The feast will be served from 12 noon to 3 pm. Steel plate and glass are used for this. Devaswom Board president K Jayakumar had said that he had planned to serve a feast on banana leaves but he switched to a steel plate as he saw that
waste management would be a problem. He had said that the change in the attitude of the Devaswom Board towards the pilgrims and the care given to them is aimed at providing a resourceful feast.
