“Locals in Pathanamthitta’s Vadasserikkara forest area are not afraid of tigers. The tiger did not face any provocation, nor did it attack humans or livestock. Forest officials say the animal was only moving through its natural corridor, and there is no reason for panic.”
A tiger was spotted close to homes in the Olikallu area of Vadasserikkara, which is part of the forest-bordering region in Pathanamthitta district. Locals saw the animal when it came out of the forest and entered the residential zone. After people made noise and raised an alarm, the tiger ran back toward the forest without attacking anyone
Villagers are still living in fear, worried the tiger could return at any time, even during the day. Earlier, about a month ago, a trap (koodu) was set up to capture the tiger after it was sighted at another location (Kumbalathaman) nearby, but the animal did not enter the trap and could not be caught.
