Onam is the most important harvest festival of Kerala and is celebrated with great enthusiasm across Pathanamthitta district, bringing together people of all communities in a spirit of unity, prosperity, and joy. The festival marks the homecoming of the legendary King Mahabali, whose reign is believed to have been a golden age of equality and happiness. Onam is observed during the Malayalam month of Chingam (August–September) and usually lasts for 10 days, culminating on Thiruvonam, the main day of celebration.

Malanada Kettukazhcha

Malanada Kettukazhcha is a unique and spectacular temple festival celebrated at the Poruvazhy Malanada Duryodhana Temple, near Adoor in Pathanamthitta district, Kerala. The temple is famous for being one of the rare temples in India dedicated to Duryodhana, a central character of the Mahabharata. The festival is usually held during the Malayalam month of Meenam (March–April) and is deeply rooted in local beliefs, folklore, and agrarian traditions. The main attraction of the festival is the Kettukazhcha—grand ceremonial processions featuring massive, beautifully decorated structures (kettukazhchas) made of bamboo, wood, and cloth.

Ezhumattoor Padayani

Ezhumattoor Padayani is a prominent traditional ritual art festival celebrated at the Panamattathukavu Bhagavathy Temple in Ezhumattoor, Pathanamthitta district, Kerala. Dedicated to Goddess Bhadrakali, the festival is a powerful expression of devotion, folklore, and community participation. The Padayani is usually conducted during the Vishu season (April–May) and continues for several days. Performances take place at night, creating an intense and sacred atmosphere illuminated by oil lamps and accompanied by rhythmic percussion.

Anandapally Maramadi

Anandapally Maramadi is a traditional bull race festival celebrated at Anandapally near Adoor in Pathanamthitta district, Kerala. It is one of the most unique rural festivals of the region, deeply connected with agriculture and village life. The festival is usually held after the harvest season, typically during the monsoon months, when paddy fields are filled with slush. Pairs of well-trained oxen (bulls) compete in exciting races through muddy tracks, guided by skilled farmers. The event showcases the strength, speed, and coordination of the animals, along with the expertise of the handlers.

It helps me a lot,” Dube made the remark while speaking about his bowling on the eve of the fourth T20I against South Africa. “T20 is a game where you have to be smart. I was smart when I bowled, but I didn’t know when, how and what to apply. As soon as Gautam (Gambhir) and (skipper) Surya supported me and told me that I could do it, I put myself in that situation. Ashes: Australia, England players pay homage to Bondi Beach terror attack victims

Players from the Australia and England cricket teams came together to pay their respects to the victims of the Bondi Beach tragedy in Sydney on the opening day of the third Ashes Test at the Adelaide Oval on Wednesday, December 17. Both teams wore black armbands as a mark of mourning and observed a moment of silence before the start of play. Fifteen civilians were killed and dozens injured on Sunday at Bondi Beach after two men opened fire, targeting members of the Jewish community who were celebrating Hanukkah. The gesture from both teams served as a show of solidarity from the cricketing fraternity following the tragic events that unfolded in Sydney, which is also scheduled to host the fifth Test of the series.Earlier, Cricket Australia and the England and Wales Cricket Board released a joint statement condemning the terrorist attack and expressing their condolences to the affected families.

“Locals in Pathanamthitta’s Vadasserikkara forest area are not afraid of tigers. The tiger did not face any provocation, nor did it attack humans or livestock. Forest officials say the animal was only moving through its natural corridor, and there is no reason for panic.” A tiger was spotted close to homes in the Olikallu area of Vadasserikkara, which is part of the forest-bordering region in Pathanamthitta district. Locals saw the animal when it came out of the forest and entered the residential zone. After people made noise and raised an alarm, the tiger ran back toward the forest without attacking anyone Villagers are still living in fear, worried the tiger could return at any time, even during the day. Earlier, about a month ago, a trap (koodu) was set up to capture the tiger after it was sighted at another location (Kumbalathaman) nearby, but the animal did not enter the trap and could not be caught.
